"I signed up for the wellness program with the CHN Health-Y-Coach in January of 2008. My job offered the services to give employees a chance to evaluate their current health status and make improvements. When I started visiting with my Health-Y-Coach, he gave me the extra motivation and resources to start my lifestyle change. CHN provided me with useful direction on healthy eating and exercise. I started working out and have gradually worked myself up to at least an hour of cardiovascular and strength training. I also adopted the healthy eating tips and habits that CHN taught. Currently I have lost a total of 50+ pounds since my first visit with my Health-Y Coach! His knowledge along with my dedication has helped lower my blood pressure and improve my cholesterol levels. "I have had great success with the Health Management program provided by Communit-Y Health Network. The goals that I set for myself when I started the program were to lose weight, get in shape, and lower my cholesterol. With the help of CHN and my Health-Y-Coach, I have been able to make great progress toward my goals. Since I began the program I have lost 19 pounds, lowered my total cholesterol 37 points putting me in the Desirable Range for cholesterol classification, and I am also in the best shape of my adult life. One of the things that I learned that has enabled me to be successful is how important exercise is. I began arriving to work one hour early every day to work out in our company gym. I do cardio every morning for 15 to 30 minutes, and then I work out with weights the rest of the time. I also began using my break time from work to do some form of exercise each day. Additionally, I learned how to eat smarter. Now I limit the amount of red meat that I eat, I stay away from fried foods, eat a lot of grilled foods, and eat fruit and vegetables more often than I did before. Everything that I learned through CHN and my Health-Y-Coach has helped me feel and better than I ever have in my life. The most important thing I have learned is I didn’t have to go on a restrictive diet to lose weight. I have instead made a lifestyle change which is going to enable me to stay healthy and in shape for the rest of my life."

June Grumbein has been participating in the City's Wellness program since it started in 2008 and has seen dramatic results. Since then, she has lost 48.4 lbs by improving her diet and adding exercise by taking up walking.
"The hardest part is staying away from the sweets," she reported. "I love sweets! Instead of a big piece of cake, I have a little sliver of cake."
The best part? "I feel better. I feel like I look better, and I have a lot more energy," she said. |

"I have been on a roller coaster ride of dieting, exercising, and trying to eat the right foods, and have seen some results from those efforts. But, for the first time in a long time, this has been a little easier. In part, it is because I am more determined. However, a large part of my success is because I have the CHN Health Program here at work. Due to the coaching from the well-qualified Health-Y-Coaches and the wealth of information they provide on healthy eating and exercising, I have lost over 40 lbs in the last six months. I also have seen my blood pressure improve immensely. In short, I guess you can say it works but you have to 'Work It.' So thank you CHN and all those involved in the program."
